How many pins are used in the power supply connector that are typically used on most motherboards today?
Before we discussing our topic, how many pins are used in the power supply connector that is typically used on most motherboards today, we can have a look into the basics, what is a power supply, what are power supply connectors, etc.
First, we an understanding, what is power supply?. Simply we can say that a power supply is an electrical device that is used to supply the electric power into an electrical load. The primary duty of the power supply is to convert the electric current to the correct voltage, frequency, and current that is from the source to the power the load. For this reason, the term electric power converter is sometimes used to refer to the power supplies.
The power supplies have come along with the other equipment or it may come as a standalone device. If it is not a separate device, then it will be built into the load appliances. The power supplies that are present in the user’s electronic device, desktops are the best example for the latter one.
Every power supplies have 2 types of connection. One is a power input connection and the other one is the power output connection where the power output connection can be one or more in number. The first one will receive the energy that is in the form of electric current from a source and the latter one will give the current to the load.
There are different kinds of power supply connectors available. The most important thing that we should care about them is the time of installing them, that is there should not be any mistake in installing them.
