In this section, we are discussing how can we configure static and default routes. And also it includes the following steps in the configuration of both types( that are static routes and default types). Basic information about Static and Default routes
If we want to transfer traffic or packet to a network or host that is non-connected, we have to define a route to a host or network and this route must be static route. If we place a router in between an ASA and a network, it will be a good example. One more important reason is that multiple context mode does not support dynamic routing. In some situations we may need to use static routes in single context mode, such cases may include,
⦁ Use a different router discovery protocol from the dynamic protocols such as EIGRP, RIP, or OSPF.
⦁ We can only manage the static route only if the network is small, otherwise, the management will de a difficult thing and turns into impossible. But if the network is too large it is impossible to manage easily and becomes a difficult task.
To send all traffic to a router that is an upstream router, the easiest and simple method for configuring a default router is to stay in the router to transfer the traffic or packet. There are a few situations where the default gateway may not be reached in the destination network since it is not able to reach there.
Static and default routes Licensing requirement
The required license for all model id Base Licence.
Guidelines and limitations
The following section discussing and illustrate all the type of guidelines and limitations of the licensing requirement for both the static routes and the default routes. Following are the important guidelines for this:
1)Context mode guidelines: This guideline is supported in both the single and multiple context mode.
2)Firewall mode guidelines: Routed and transparent firewall modes use the support of this guideline. Only they can use the advantage of firewall mode guidelines.
3)IPv6 guidelines: IPv6 uses the support of this model. No other can us these guidelines. In other words, we can say that it is built only for IPv6.

Configuring a static and default route
Before starting the routing process, the network administrator must provide the algorithms for static routing. They are basically table mapping. The administrator does not allow them to change this mapping unless. The algorithms that are created by using static routes are very simple to design. Such algorithms work well in situations where network traffic can be predicted relatively. In this type of algorithms, the network design is very simple and is predictable. Even if in the case of the specified gateway is not available, the static routes must be there in the routing table.
The default route can identify the IP address of the gateway for the purpose of sending ASA. There is no rule that all the IP packets for which it has a static or learned route. That is the packets do not have the static or learned routes. Up to three default route entries that having the same cost can be defined for a single device at a time. In such a case, that is if we are decided to define multiple numbers of default routes (more than one default route), we have to take care of specifying the interfaces, that is all the interfaces for each entry should have the same interface.
Monitoring a static or default route
The following section describes how we can monitor a static or default route. There is no predefined mechanism to find whether the route is up or down. This is one of the main problems that static routes having. The routing table keeps the information even if the gateway is not available and it results in many issues in the routing of traffic. This information does not go from the routing table automatically. This is one of the disadvantages of static routing. If ASA goes down, these static routes in the routing table removed. The one and only possible way to remove the routes from the routing table is that.
Configuration examples for static or default routes
Steps included are:
Step 1: First, we have to create a static route.
Step 2: we have to define three static routes, which have the same route cost. These all routes transfer the traffic three corresponding multiple(three different) gateways. These gateways are on the outside interface.
